Day of Disney

I've visited the Sunshine State with my family every year since birth, typically splitting the time between Orlando and Daytona Beach. Last summer was no exception, although we did tack on a ride aboard Disney Cruise Line's new boat, the Disney Dream. The next few updates will cover this trip, as well as bring me closer to catching-up with the present. I'll hopefully start posting more current updates once there.

Following an early morning plane ride and checking-in at our hotel (Disney's Pop Century), my brother and I headed to Disney's Hollywood Studios, the resort's third park. Our main intention of visiting was to try the revamped Star Tours attraction, which had recently received a complete overhaul.

The "new" attraction was heavily advertised throughout Orlando, including Orlando International Airport.

The outside was mostly the same with a few minor differences.

The inside though featured new queue themeing and new ride videos, both of which enhanced the experience.

Especially with the new Muppets movie from a few months back, how about this be next on the list of rides to refurbish?

The park wasn't too busy, but that didn't change the fact there is very little to do there.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is the star attraction, alongside Toy Story Midway Mania and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. But that's it.

See you later, Hollywood Studios. Can't say I'll miss you.

We returned to our hotel, where I explored with the nephew.

Following that and dinner, my Dad and I went to the original park, Magic Kingdom. Here's a grainy picture of their new nighttime show, "The Magic, The Memories and You".

It is directly followed by the nighttime fireworks display.

Unlike most parks, which close with the fireworks, Disney's typically remain open for several more hours. Perfect opportunity for "bored" rides on Splash Mountain and the like.

Also a great chance to kick some butt in Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin =)

The original park remains the most complete - it is easy to spend a day, if not several, inside of it.

Some Daytona Beach up next, alongside additional Florida adventures.
