Holiday World - Part 1

While May and June were both eventful months, they were very minor when compared to July. During those 31 days, I visited half-a-dozen different amusement and theme parks, working seemingly endless hours and taking near infinite pictures.

One of the first things I did in July was to visit Holiday World with my family. We spent two days at the park, dividing our time between the four holiday-themed sections and the amazing water park, Splashin' Safari.

The family-owned amusement park has a quaint, welcoming feel to it.

The park received national attention in 1995 with the addition of Raven, part of the Halloween section

Five years later, the park added a second roller coaster - The Legend.

The park's Halloween section is also home to a dive show, featuring several talented divers.

The show includes a thrilling fire dive, where a performer lights himself on fire before jumping.

Elsewhere in the park, in the Fourth of July area, is Liberty Launch - a compact but intense free-fall.

Raging Rapids is another Fourth of July attraction, similar to Kings Island's White Water Canyon.

Paul Revere's Midnight Ride, since removed from the park, is at the entrance to Fourth of July.

Holiday World's newest section is Thanksgiving, home to several family and thrill rides.

Turkey-Whirl is a fun take on the classic Tilt-A-Whirl attraction.

There is also an interactive dark ride, Gobbler Getaway.

Beyond rides, the area features Plymouth Rock Cafe, an excellent restaurant.

The food is fresh, hot, and delicious.

Thanksgiving is also home to an incredible wooden roller coaster, featured in the next update (alongside the park's massive water park).
