2009 Kings Island Pictures

The 2009 season at Kings Island proved to be one of the most eventful and interesting in the 37-year-old park's history. Between January and October, I took several thousand photographs in and around the park. Amidst this four-digit number, I was finally able to find a few I could classify as "good" and that I was willing to share:

We start with a picture of Firehawk, Kings Island's "new"-for-2007 flying roller coaster. The main draw here is the clouds, which compliment the subject. Picture taken August 24.

Following is a shot of Racer, a coaster I took quite-a-few photos of during 2009. This particular shot was taken from a backstage area on May 10, as part of the park's Ride Warriors Weekend event.

Drop Tower, Kings Island's 315-foot gyro-drop. Besides the clouds, the unique angle that exaggerates the ride's height is the main draw here. Picture taken July 7.

One of the most exciting events of the years (although a tad unorganized), the ASA Action Sports Weekend brought some talented performers to the park. This individual shot was chosen thanks to the carefully-planned timing- the bike has just left the platform and is still in the same shot as the Eiffel Tower. Picture taken May 23.

Kings Island's 1/3-scale-replica of the Eiffel Tower stands 314-feet tall, making it a great choice for the centerpiece of the park. The trees frame the structure while the clouds create a nice back-drop. Picture taken April 18.

One final shot, this one being another-one of The Racer. The trees create a cool frame for it, while the (actually racing) trains add some color to the picture. Taken from Launch Pad's platform July 7.
