Halloween Horror Nights XXI - Part Five

The third and final haunted house we toured was "The Forsaken", a trip through a seaside Spanish fort and around the wreckage of a sunken ship brought up from the bottom of the ocean. The house was haunted by a collection of sea monsters who terrorized and tortured the Spanish men.

A look at one of such monsters. There was an equal mixture of mannequins and performers in the maze, creating a "what's real" dilemma for guests.

There was also plenty of slayed and slaughtered mannequins, representing the monsters' victims.

Ouch.

The detail in the maze was phenomenal - the archways looked like real stone and helped hide a performer on the other side.

During the tour, we learned that many of the props came from flea markets and garage sales. Universal apparently to forgot to remove the price tags on these items.

Some extra detail on another table.

"It's just a flesh wound!"

This screen, placed behind an opening in the wall, had a projection of sea monsters slowly walking forwards. It was also a great use of misdirection, allowing a performer to appear unexpectedly.

Midway through the house was a massive room filled with sea monster mannequins.

The monster on the left was cleverly posed as to appear like a real performer, easily focusing guests' attention away from the real performers.

Yet another shot of the set-up.

One of the final pieces of the attraction was this fun house style tilted floor.

Other pictures from around the park coming up soon.
